Software platform vendors, such as OSS vendors, are beginning to develop tightly integrated platforms that will not only integrate OSS functions, such as fulfillment and billing, but also have extensive product models that interwork with the service creation functions and content management systems that have so far been the domain of the service delivery platform (SDP).  Others are adopting service-oriented architecture (SOA) technologies and emerging standards-based interfaces so that their products can easily be integrated with those of other vendors.  Systems integrators or operators will then be responsible for the integration itself, defining the product model and creating the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)-based process automation that link various OSS tools in a service management platform.

To accomplish these objectives, platform vendors could use Coscend's component-based custom communications software:  component-based architecture, software-building blocks, software-integrating blocks, utilities, and tools.
